Job Summary

The Director of Demand Planning – North America position will oversee the Workforce Demand Planning team which focuses on monitoring workforce strategy and ensures optimal staffing levels through assigned operational facilities. The Director ensures that the right employees with the right skills are operating at the right time to align for short and mid-term operational needs. The Director must be able to lead a team of Workforce Planning Managers as they work to create efficiencies in the operation and analyze station productivity. This position provides strategic oversight and prioritizes team workload to ensure alignment with company strategy and all the company stakeholders.

 

The Director of Demand Planning will work with Senior Leadership to create the Workforce Demand Planning strategy as it relates to staffing levels and equipment planning. Experience in process improvement, relationship building, and leadership is a must for the successful candidate. The position will ensure that the Workforce Demand Planning team is continuously improving in its processes and elevating its product output through collaborative generation and execution of innovative ideas. The Director will also oversee and collaborate with business units on time and motion/process studies of several operational facilities, along with the implementation and management of approved labor standards.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of Workforce Planning Managers in the development, maintenance, analysis, and execution of labor and ground service equipment models for Cargo & Airport Operations.
  • Work with the Finance & HR team to ensure that hiring, budget, and staff planning processes are aligned with the operation.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to implement and manage approved labor standards.
  • Manage the creation of staffing models based on historical data, truck schedules, tonnage forecasts, and time studies.
  • Forecast labor and ground service equipment requirements for budgeting and provide updates based on changes to schedules and work processes.
  • Monitor efficiency of assigned operations and work with stakeholders to identify improvement opportunities and present findings to Senior Leadership.
  • Manage the administration of the company’s planning systems and ensure its optimal usage across the network and amongst stakeholders.
  • Develop and mentor the Workforce Demand Planning team.
  • Foster collaborative relationships with leadership and communicate recommendations for optimal coverage of the North American operational facilities.
  • Assist with the implementation of technology improvement initiatives to streamline demand planning and reporting functions.
  • Oversee labor analyses to determine the operational and/or budgetary impact of changes to standards, union rules, safety requirements, innovative technology, outage and attrition trends, and cargo volumes.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree with a concentration in Project Management, Finance, Accounting, or another Business-related field required.
  • Master’s degree and/or MBA preferred.
  • Minimum of 8 years of total experience in project management, finance, accounting or business operations required.
  • 4 years of experience in a planning or analytical function required
  • 4 years of leadership experience required.
  • Strong PowerPoint and Excel skills.
  • Knowledge of change management and influential factor.

Preferred Skills

  • Master’s degree and/or MBA preferred.
  • Experience in Air Cargo, Logistics or Airport Operations.
  • High volume workforce planning experience preferred.
  • Excellent analytical skills.
  • Excellent oral, written and communication skills.
  • Personable and professional demeanor.
  • Ability multi-task and work independently as well as in different (local) teams.
  • Must be able to work under high demand and pressure.

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions

  • Required travel +/- 30%.
  • Occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
  • Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer.
  • Walk short distances.
  • Reach above and/or below the shoulder.
