Job Summary

The Ground Ramp Services Manager leads all aspects of ramp operations with a focus on safety, efficiency, and compliance. This role provides senior oversight of Managers-on-Duty (MODs), supervisors, and leads while managing scheduling, staffing levels, and daily workforce deployment. The Manager is accountable for maintaining on-time performance, ensuring equipment readiness, and enforcing company and regulatory policies. A key driver of operational excellence, this position promotes a safety-first culture and fosters accountability at all levels.

Responsibilities

  • Provide senior-level oversight of MODs, supervisors, and lead agents in ramp operations.
  • Manage scheduling and staffing plans to align with operational demand and budget.
  • Direct ramp activities including aircraft marshaling, baggage handling, and turnaround processes.
  • Ensure compliance with FAA, TSA, OSHA, and company safety standards.
  • Drive operational performance through team development, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Coordinate with maintenance teams to ensure availability and safe operation of ground service equipment (GSE).
  • Investigate service disruptions or safety incidents and implement corrective action plans.
  • Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs), workforce productivity, and incident trends.

Minimum Requirements

  • High school diploma required; bachelor’s degree in aviation, logistics, or related field preferred.
  • 3+ years in ground operations, with at least 1 year in a leadership or senior supervisory role.
  • Demonstrated experience leading MODs, supervisors, or multiple work groups.
  • Strong working knowledge of ramp operations, GSE, and safety compliance standards.
  • Flexible to work nights, weekends, and holidays; valid driver’s license required.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience creating and managing shift schedules and operational staffing models.
  • Proficient with ramp operations systems and equipment tracking tools.
  • Strong decision-making, communication, and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Ability to lead under pressure while maintaining safety and service standards.
  • Certifications in safety management or ground operations preferred.

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical duties in all weather conditions.
  • Work includes standing, walking, kneeling, and climbing during shifts.
  • Must operate in high-noise, high-traffic ramp areas with proper PPE.
