Job Summary

The Ramp Services Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and managing all ramp operations, ensuring efficient and safe handling of cargo, aircraft, and equipment. This includes supervising the loading and unloading of cargo (luggage, mail, express, baggage, freight, and company materials), transporting cargo between terminals and aircraft, and maintaining compliance with company policies, safety standards, and TSA regulations. The Supervisor monitors team performance, provides coaching and training, and participates in hiring and disciplinary actions. Additionally, the role ensures budgetary controls, staffing requirements, and adherence to corporate security programs and audit standards.

Key responsibilities also include coordinating aircraft servicing tasks such as pushout/tow operations and marshaling and guiding aircraft. The Supervisor ensures proper handling of equipment, as well as routine maintenance of work areas, ramps, and facilities. The role may also involve monitoring facility security and performing or overseeing minor automotive repairs and equipment servicing. The scope of responsibilities may vary based on the size and needs of the operation.

Responsibilities

  • Perform all aspects of airport operations, including ticketing transactions, baggage check-in, issuing boarding passes, and dispatching flights in a safe and timely manner.

  • Handle baggage service functions, such as filing loss, damage, and pilferage claims.

  • Provide efficient and professional customer service, resolving passenger issues as needed.

  • Coordinate with various departments (e.g., catering, fueling, and maintenance companies) to ensure operational needs are met.

  • Act as a company representative when assigned.

  • Report to work regularly and on time.

  • Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, maintenance manuals, and procedure guides.

  • Perform basic mathematical operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.

  • Compute rates, percentages, and interpret bar graphs.

  • Analyze problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

  • Interpret technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and manage multiple abstract and concrete variables.

Minimum Requirements

  • Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language. 
  • Must be able to work weekends (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday), holidays, and days off.

  • Ability to lift up to 70 lbs.
  • Work in a high noise level environment.
