Job Summary
Responsibilities
- Serve as the regional subject matter expert on TSA security program requirements as they apply to ground handling operations, ensuring every facility maintains continuous, audit-ready compliance.
- Own and maintain the compliance documentation and recordkeeping systems required to withstand TSA, FAA, airline customer, and internal audits at any time, without notice.
- Act as the regional point of contact during regulatory inspections and audits, coordinating facility responses, corrective action plans, and follow-up documentation.
- Monitor changes to federal, state, and local regulations (TSA security directives, FAA ground operations rules, DOT, OSHA) and translate them into actionable facility-level requirements.
- Provide practical, real-time compliance guidance to General Managers, supervisors, and frontline employees across all levels of the regional organization.
- Serve as an always-available support resource for all GMs within the region to ensure compliance is addressed proactively, not reactively.
- Conduct periodic internal compliance reviews and self-audits at each facility to identify and correct nonconformities before they surface in a formal audit.
- Track and drive the reduction of safety- and compliance-related incidents and audit nonconformities across the region.
- Support the administration and operation of the Safety Management System (SMS), ensuring compliance findings feed into corrective and preventive action tracking.
- Serve as the region's Master Train-the-Trainer for motorized ground support equipment, ensuring every facility has properly identified, certified evaluators.
- Ensure all equipment operators are trained, evaluated, and recertified according to the standards defined in the WFS Training Manual, with complete and audit-ready recordkeeping.
- Assist the Training and Safety departments with regional initiatives and projects as the designated regional point of contact.
- Assist in the development and rollout of new or revised safety training programs as compliance requirements evolve.
- Regularly engage with WFS employees on the warehouse floor and ramp, reinforcing good practices and correcting at-risk behavior through direct, constructive feedback.
- Periodically attend facility safety committee meetings to ensure compliance topics are represented and tracked to closure.
- Support regional efforts to reduce workers' compensation and general liability claims in line with executive leadership goals.
- Perform other duties as assigned by Regional Leadership.
Minimum Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in aviation ground handling, airline operations, or airport operations, with direct exposure to regulatory compliance requirements.
- Working knowledge of TSA security regulations and directives as they apply to airport ground handling operations.
- Familiarity with FAA ground operations standards, DOT regulations, and OSHA workplace safety requirements.
- Demonstrated experience with audit preparation, regulatory inspections, or compliance recordkeeping systems.
- Experience training and evaluating employees on motorized equipment or comparable operational equipment.
- Strong documentation discipline; ability to build and maintain recordkeeping systems that hold up under formal audit scrutiny.
- Ability to communicate compliance requirements clearly and practically to audiences ranging from frontline operators to General Managers.
- Willingness and ability to travel regularly throughout the assigned region, including to ramp and warehouse environments.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including occasional early mornings, evenings, or weekends, to support 24/7 station operations.
- Valid driver's license and ability to obtain/maintain airport security badge (SIDA) credentials as required by each station.
Preferred Skills
- Prior experience in a dedicated Compliance, Regulatory Affairs, or Safety Manager role within aviation ground handling or airline operations.
- Existing TSA or airport-authority security credentialing experience (e.g., serving as a station's Airport ID/badging or security compliance point of contact).
- Formal Train-the-Trainer certification or equivalent instructional design/adult learning credential.
- Experience supporting or administering a Safety Management System (SMS).
- Bachelor's degree in Aviation Management, Occupational Safety, Business, or a related field.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus, depending on regional workforce composition.
- Experience with workers' compensation and general liability claims reduction initiatives.
