Job Summary
The Commercial Pricing Analyst serves as a key resource to analyze our current Customer Pricing Information, identify trends, and recommend pricing strategies based off their analysis. This position will support the Commercial, Operations and Finance teams to increase profitability and market share. Continuous drive for maximizing yields, forecasting profitability of multiple customers pricing options and participating in the development of WFS’s pricing strategy to retain existing business and continue to win new accounts.
Responsibilities
- Assessing data from a variety of sources to gain insights into pricing strategies and market trends
- Tracking customers and stations margins to develop effective pricing strategies for different services
- Applying statistical modeling methods to determine the potential impact of pricing strategies on profitability
- Recommending pricing strategies that align closely with market trends and identifying new market segments
- Forecasting additional revenues based on market trends, operational costs, profit margins and sales volumes
- Developing dynamic pricing tools to effectively respond to changing market needs and trends
- Preparing and presenting pricing analysis findings to senior management, commercial and operation teams
- Perform periodic internal audits to confirm implementation of rate increases and accuracy of initial revenue forecast
- Analyze, implement and maintain standard general ledger job codes list for customers across the U.S. in ESO/SAP
- Generate weekly and monthly pricing reports for senior management as well as any ad hoc requests
- Assist with follow up of rate increases, negotiations, approvals, and updates to the master rate file or future CRM
- Liaise with various internal departments to identify any issues to sales process and help implement solutions
- Monitor and report on the effectiveness of pricing strategies and initiatives to Senior Leadership.
- Customer pricing data management in Excel, while evaluation of automated system is completed
- Ad hoc projects and reports as needed
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree with a focus on Business, Finance, Statistics or in a related field
- A minimum of 3-5 years' experience as a pricing analyst in a similar industry
- In-depth knowledge of statistical methods and data analysis
- Excellent analytical skills, advanced in Microsoft Excel
- Proficiency in business intelligence (BI) software
- Extensive experience in analyzing pricing strategies and forecasting revenue and market share
- Experience in collaborating on pricing strategies with sales and operation departments
- Ability to keep abreast of industry trends and develop dynamic pricing tools
- Advanced ability to present pricing analysis reports to relevant stakeholders
- Excellent oral, written, and communication skills
- Personable and professional demeanor
- Ability to multi-task and work independently as well as in different (local) teams
Preferred Skills
- Strong analytical skills are necessary to compare sales trends and determine market data.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills are important, as pricing analysts work with team members at all levels, including store associates, office staff and executive team members.
- The ability to pay close attention to detail while remaining accurate is crucial in the analysis of large collections of data.
- Pricing analysts use problem-solving skills to identify declining sales trends and devise strategies to improve them.
