Manager on Duty

The role of Manager-on-Duty (MOD) includes leading the airport gateways front-line supervisory personnel within the assigned functional area and acting as liaison between first level supervisors and senior management. The MOD proactively monitors the staffing levels and the activity of assigned employees to ensure that customer satisfaction, safety, security, quality and employee relations meet or exceed standards. The MOD participates in the overall Station/ Gateway hiring, training, coaching, counseling, discipline, and termination of associates and ensures compliance with Company rules and standards as well as governmental regulations and customer contractual agreements.

The MOD also ensures the facility meets budgetary controls and staffing requirements while also ensuring the administration of all policy and management practices are delivered in a fair and equitable manner where all employees, customers, vendors and other third parties are treated with respect. This position may include responsibility for communication between individual customers and the Company. The scope of the job may vary with the size of the operation and its primary line of business.

 

Required Skills:

· Effectively train, manage and motivate personnel to perform support roles on assigned projects.

· Analyze and implement solutions to operational support needs as requested.

· Respond to building operational needs and work with building/terminal managers closely to resolve any support requirements.

· Develop/train support team members to perform efficiently and effectively during support assignments.

· Coordinate and delegate associated project assignments to OST staff to achieve target tasks.

· Effectively present information to top management, and/or boards.

· Respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business.

· Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form and implementation of all cargo operational procedures.

· Ability to operate/train equipment and hold necessary licensing.

· Minimum typing speed of 30 WMP and ability to learn PC skills and apply knowledge.

· Enforce company’s Standard Operating Procedures and policies

· Assure proper compliance with local and international laws and regulations

 

Required Experience:

· Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience

· 2+ years of hands-on experience in a cargo, distribution, logistics, airline, or similar industry

· Ability to read, write, and speak the English language

· Ability to work weekends including Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Holidays if needed, and the ability to work different shifts

· Must be proficient in operation of all warehouse machinery and GSE equipment.
