Job Summary

The Senior Manager, Ground Handling oversees daily ground operations to ensure safe, efficient and cost-effect use of staff, equipment, and facilities. This role partners with airport and company leadership to drive performance, ensure compliance, and support operational excellence. 

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach, and support front line supervisors and staff to meet safety, service, and efficiency goals
• Collaborate with airport management and corporate leadership to align on policies, procedures and strategic priorities
• Monitor daily operations and financial reports to identify issues, track performance, and recommend improvements 
• Recommend capital investments that improve service or efficiency 
• Ensure compliance with TSA regulations, corporate security programs, and internal audit requirements 
• Enforce safety procedures, company policies, and government regulations
• Manage employee ID issuance and site-specific security protocols
• Investigate and resolve operational complaints or incidents 

Minimum Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in ground handling or airport operations, including 2+ years in a leadership role
• Experience working in a unionized environment, with understanding of labor relations and contract compliance
• Strong understanding of airport operations, safety regulations, and TSA compliance requirements 
• Proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop teams in a fast-paced, unionized environment
• Excellent communication, problem-solving, and decision making skills 
• Proficiency in analyzing operational and financial data to drive performance
• Ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders 
• Must be able to obtain and maintain all required airport security badges 
• Availability to work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays, as needed 
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel domestically as required 

Preferred Skills

• Bachelor's degree in aviation management, business administration, or related field
• Experience partnering with airport authorities and corporate leadership

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions

• Remain in a stationary position (sitting or standing) for extended periods of time
• Move about airport facilities and ramp areas, including walking, bending, climbing stairs, or standing on hard surfaces
• Operate a computer and standard office equipment 
• Lift, carry, push, or pull materials and equipment up to 50 pounds 
• Use hands and arms to handle, reach, or grasp documents, tools, or controls
• Work in indoor and outdoor environments, including exposure to weather, noise, and aircraft operations 
• Communicate clearly and effectively in person, over the phone, and via radio 
• Maintain visual and auditory awareness in a bust, safety-sensitive environment
• Travel domestically up to 25% of the time 
• Maintain regular and punctual attendance in compliance with ADA, FMLA, and applicable local, state, and federal regulations.
