Job Summary

The Passenger Services Assistant aids passengers with check-in, baggage, and general inquiries at the terminal. Responsibilities include ensuring compliance with security protocols, providing directions, and performing various tasks to support passenger services.

Responsibilities

  • Assists passengers as requested or required at self-service check-in kiosk areas throughout the terminal and/or at the baggage drop areas and/or counter queuing areas.
  • Assists passengers with questions about:
    • The use of automated kiosk check-in terminals
    • Checked baggage requirements
    • Carry-on baggage restrictions
    • The scanning of baggage
  • Queries passengers using FAA/TSA mandated security questions
  • Ensures passengers with disabilities are promptly assisted in accordance with ADA requirements
  • Verifies passengers’ identification as required by the FAA/TSA
  • Observes the proper placement of baggage tags and verifies weights of bags
  • Provides general logistical directions around the airport terminal areas
  • Stocks ticket counters with applicable supplies
  • Changes stock in printers
  • Affixes printed bag tags on checked baggage
  • Performs other duties that may be assigned in the passenger terminal service area

Minimum Requirements

  • HS Diploma, GED or Equivalent
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and adapt to constant changes.
  • Must have the ability to read, write, fluently speak and understand the English language.   Bilingualism may be required in certain assignments.

Preferred Skills

  • Ability to work with different levels of management in communicating issues.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, and ability to exhibit consistent welcoming and helpful behavior
  • Read and interpret simple printed instructions, short correspondence, and write legibly to complete forms/paperwork, and complete simple correspondence as required.
  • Reports to work on a regular and timely basis.
  • Ability to use hand-held and electronic devices to input information and scan luggage

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions

  • Ability to lift up to 70 lbs. without assistance 
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
  • Attention to detail for accurate documentation on compliance documents 
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment
